FREELANCE – Creative consulting / Media relations

I work with independent businesses and various video/web production companies to establish creative ideas, marketing strategies, and develop public relations and promotional events to successfully steer clients and viewers to these entities.

I also act as a media relations spokesperson and production liaison for my clients.  I know how to “work the phones”.  I ensure that productions and communications run smoothly at all junctures, from pre-production to post-production and all aspects in between.

2005-present: THE SAILING CHANNEL - thesailingchannel.com

I am an associate producer and consultant, as well as on-camera interviewer for this ever-expanding worldwide channel. I contribute to the creating and writing of interviews/special segments with the Executive Producers.

2002-present: KENTISLAND.ORG - kentisland.org, kentisland.cc

I assist the web master and executive producer with promotional events, social functions and public relations to successfully bring clients and viewers to the site. I continue to contribute to marketing strategies, and help produce 30-second (streaming video) commercials for clients throughout the Washington DC/Baltimore metropolitan area.

2005-present: SUGG PRODUCTIONS

In addition to being assistant director on location, I assist with production of industrial, corporate and educational video productions for various government, educational, and non-profit entities in the Washington DC metropolitan area.

2006: WCSN.COM (World Champion Sports Network)

I am a creative consultant and segment co-host for an international project currently in development, slated for release in 2007.

RADIO EXPERIENCE

2005-2008: XM Satellite Radio, Washington DC

I am an associate traffic and weather reporter, covering twenty major markets across the United States, including, but not limited to: Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Houston, and New York.  When reporting, I am responsible for interpreting problems and relaying traffic and weather information the selected markets.  I use the DALET 5.1 DIGITAL AUDIO SYSTEM to produce, voice, edit and transmit reports.

As a Traffic & Weather producer, I am responsible for gathering and monitoring information regarding specific situations in all markets. Additionally, I deal with listeners and relay all updates with accurate information to reporters. I am also responsible for ensuring the latest updates aired on the Emergency Alert Channel are accurate.

1993–present: Voiceover / Narration

I do commercials/promotions and Public Service Announcements at various radio stations and web casts in the US and Great Britain.

2002-5: Empire Broadcasting Inc.

WRNR 103.1 FM / WINX 94.3 FM Baltimore/Annapolis, MD

I was the promotions director / marketing coordinator responsible for outside promotions, listener and public relations.  I worked directly with the operations manager and sales manager in developing and implementing ideas for various events and functions for broadcasts and promotions. I oversaw all aspects of air-talent (on location) and ensured promotions for the remote broadcasts were successful. Additionally, I dealt with artists, management and other entities/venues in the entertainment industry on a daily basis.

WRNR 103.1 FM

I was the mischievous show host of The Saturday Night Rhythm & Groove.

A live studio broadcast from 9pm until Midnight.  I had great interaction with the audience and took call-ins, requests, and dedications from listeners, as well as playing cool music!

2002-2003: 810 AM - WYRE RADIO - Joe Duley’s Bistro - Weekdays, Noon3pm

I hosted this popular daily radio show featuring music, news and commentary.  I was responsible for commercial production/sales and imaging for my program.  I also created sales packets and station branding to successfully bring advertisers to this classic station.

1993-2000: WNAV Radio - Annapolis, MD/Navy Football Network

I produced and hosted a weekly show, and was responsible for entire content of special programming, including, but not limited to conducting on-air interviews, organizing special events, writing news stories and entertainment segments.  I participated in promotional events and did appearances as an ambassador for the station.

2001-2005: BBC Radio Wales: “The Nicola Heywood Thomas News Programme

I was a regular news contributor/correspondent to this awarding winning program. I did interviews as well as participated in live and recorded studio segments - Including a report from September 11th, 2001, New York City.


PAST EXPERIENCE - VARIOUS MEDIA, TV, FILM PRODUCTIONS

Radio America - Washington D.C.

I was weekend (overnight) producer and board operator, responsible for national news feeds, commercial drop-ins, and maintaining programming at this national talk radio network.

Chesapeake Family Magazine

I was a freelance contributor to this award winning monthly family publication.  Additionally, I was part of the public relations and promotions department as well as participating in outside sales and marketing. Publisher: Donna Jefferson - Annapolis, MD.

1998: “Nozzole’s Travels” - Co-creator/co-writer and producer

I co-wrote this 30-minute comedic/travelogue, assembling the international team, shooting on location in New York, Wales, and England.  I was responsible for all aspects of production, promotion, and screenings in the USA and UK.  I also headed travel, transportation, and scheduling of co-production for US locations.

Production Liaison / Promotions / Public Relations

1992–2003: Freelance short-term projects - New York, Washington DC, Great Britain

I was responsible for various aspects of independent projects including:

·         Organizing & assisting independent productions & entertainment event producers.

·         Managing team communications, and making sure productions ran smoothly.

·         Liaison between clients and entertainment artists.

·         Facilitating multi-cultural and international productions in Wales and England, assisting production teams and helping individuals/talent prepare, acclimate, and maintain smooth communications and relations between all parties involved in production.


1983-1988: NBC “Friday Night Videos” Production Associate
I assisted the producers during studio shoots as the talent / set liaison and was responsible for coordination of catering. I was also a Production Assistant for location shoots and assisted the transportation captain at various venues.

1983-1985: National Lampoon MagazinePart-time Production Assistant

I worked as a writing assistant to Peter Kleinman, contributing to the “Foto Funnies” and “Letters to the Editor”.

1984–1988: NBC’S “Saturday Night Main Event/World Wrestling Federation” - Titan Sports

Assistant to interview producer René Goulet - I was stage manager for taped generic interviews at various locations throughout the United States. I was a talent and producer liaison. I was also a coordinator on location for interviews taped at various venues across the country (including Canada).

1998-2000: Ray Murphy, Jr. - Former President of Eddie Murphy ProductionsI co-produced a pilot promo with Ray Murphy working with him in New York and Los Angeles on development of a comedic travel series.
